Murchison Falls National Park

Overview

Uganda’s largest National Park, Murchison falls is one of the best game viewing destinations in the country. Home to over 76 mammal species that includes four of the Big 5 (lion, leopard, elephant and the Buffalo) and 450 bird species, Murchison falls is a safari lovers haven. Other wildlife species found in the park include; bushbuck, Uganda kob, waterbuck, hartebeest, giraffe, hyena, warthog and many more. There are chimpanzees in the Kaniyo Pabidi mahogany forest within the park. The vegetation is characterized by savannah grassland, riverine forest and woodland.

The highlight of a safari to Murchison National Park is visiting Murchison falls, appoint along the Nile, within the park where the Nile River explodes through a narrow gorge 8 meters wide over a massive drop

 

Best time to visit

Although Murchinson falls National Park is a good safari destination all year round, the best time to visit is December to February. The peak season is during June to September and the park can be crowded.
