Matusadona National Park

Overview

Matusadona National Park is situated on the southern shores of Lake Kariba in northern Zimbabwe. The park offers excellent wildlife viewing experience in a magnificent setting. All the Big 5 call the park home including the endangered black rhino, elephant and buffalo are abundant on the lake shore. The park has the largest lion population in Zimbabwe and is one of the best places to view the endangered black rhino.  In addition to the wildlife, Matusadona National Park offers a unique safari experience with picturesque landscapes and magical sunsets. It is surrounded by river boundaries, giving it a good supply of water and attracting wildlife. Visitors can enjoy game drives, walking safaris, boat and canoe excursions, offering a safari experience at any time of the year. Matusadona is a lesser known and less frequently visited park with few, yet varietal accommodation options, meaning that it is never a crowded destination. There is the option of staying in a houseboat on the lake and games driving in the park.

Best time to visit

The best time to visit this park is the dry season from June to October when wildlife viewing is at its best. Animals are easier to observe because the bush thins out and wildlife gathers around Lake Kariba.
